CHEC Family Resource Center is offering Unlocking My Potential, a supportive group for teens ages 14–17 focused on helping young people explore their strengths, build confidence, develop a plan for their future, and discover the many paths available to achieve success. The group will be led by Elizabeth Lucero, MSW, ACSW, and will include interactive activities and discussions designed to encourage personal growth and connection.

3rd Annual Kids Summer grief Camp

Founded by two friends brought together through shared loss, Lemons to Lemonade was created to give grieving children a place to feel understood, supported, and never alone. After experiencing the healing power of grief camps firsthand, Sophia and Avery launched this camp to bring that same comfort and connection to kids in our community.

Sophia Donald will be speaking at Making Meaning After Loss alongside respected leaders in grief support, including Dr. Laura Berman. The event brings together compassionate voices dedicated to helping individuals and families find connection, healing, and hope after loss.

20th Annual ICAN Conference

Childhood Grief and Traumatic Loss Conference

Wednesday, March 25

On Wednesday, March 25, Sophia Donald will present at the 20th Annual ICAN Childhood Grief & Traumatic Loss Conference, a nationally recognized program that brings together leading clinicians, researchers, educators, and child advocates dedicated to improving outcomes for children experiencing grief and trauma. Sponsored by the Inter-Agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect, this highly respected conference convenes experts from across the country to advance best practices in supporting children and families.

Sophia will share the story behind Lemons to Lemonade Foundation and lead a breakout session focused on the importance of community-based support to help grieving children feel understood, connected, and less alone.

Community Event with Miracles for Kids

Partnering with Miracles for Kids, Lemons to Lemonade will host 50 children and families for a day of creativity, connection, and joy. Activities include face painting, tote decorating, journal crafting, and interactive stations designed to uplift families navigating hardship.

November 2024: Partnering with Miracles for Kids

A day of uplifting fun at their flagship center, where we served 17 families and 51 attendees. Through creative crafts and memory-building activities, we brought joy and connection to families navigating challenges.

October 24, 2024: Officially Becoming a 501(c)(3)

On this milestone date, Lemons to Lemonade officially became a nonprofit organization, opening new doors for funding and expanding our impact for grieving kids.

August 2024: Dragon Kim Foundation Graduation

Avery and Sophia completed an 8-month mini-MBA program with the Dragon Kim Foundation, gaining the leadership skills and mentorship needed to transform their vision into a nonprofit serving grieving children.

June 2024: First Lemons to Lemonade Grief Camp

Our inaugural camp, funded by the Dragon Kim Foundation and St. Margaret’s Venture to Serve Program, provided a safe and inspiring space for grieving kids to heal, connect, and create lasting memories.
